The North Dakota Community Action Partnership (NDCAP) is encouraging deer hunters to share their bounty with hungry individuals and families.  

Food pantries have experienced a dramatic increase in the need for emergency food and are struggling to keep shelves fully stocked. In an effort to address this need, the NDCAA is spear-heading a public education effort to encourage sporting and community-based groups to initiate a venison donation program in their community.  

A venison donation program involves:

• Securing a partnership with a USDA approved meat processor  and negotiating a processing fee for ground packaged venison.
• Locating charities in and around a community that are capable of storing and distributing donated venison.
• Encouraging hunters to donate deer and / or monetary donations.
• Raising funds to cover the cost of processing the venison. Along with the venison donations, hunters may also donate the monetary processing fee and receive a year-end tax deduction.
