Youth Individual Development Account

  • The Youth Individual Development Account Programs (IDA) is a matched savings program designed to give youth a chance to purchase lasting assets that will enable them to have a greater chance at financial security. It is our goal to give you the knowledge, skills, and extra dollars to secure your financial future.

Applicants that are between the ages of 16-22 and in foster care, or are working with an approved social service referring agency, and make less than 200% of the current poverty income guideline.

An IDA participant will save a minimum of $25/month in a specially authorized account at Bremer Bank in Fargo.  Up to $1,000 can be saved and matched.  Upon withdrawal, the amount saved is matched by public and private funds for a 2:1 match.  So for every $1.00 saved, you get an additional $2.00!  The money earned can then be used toward the purchase of one of the three following assets:  Education expenses, health care related expenses, and vehicle purchase.
