War on Poverty with David Bradley

David Bradley from the National Community Action Foundation will be in Fargo on August 8th conducting a one-day War on Poverty session that covers the evolution of our network. The National Community Action Foundation (NCAF) was founded in 1981 with the purpose of representing CAAs and their state and regional associations in Washington, D.C. Current Executive Director David Bradley, with the mentorship of Sargent Shriver, co-founded the organization in an effort to ensure that the federal government continued to support the of Community Action Agencies (CAAs). David was one of the original authors of the CSBG Act and has an amazing depth of knowledge of the history of Community Action.
The Workshop takes all participants on a journey from LBJ's declaration of an “unconditional War on Poverty” in 1964 through Paul Ryan’s 2014 “Path to Prosperity.” Having been intimately involved with CSBG and Community Action Agencies since their creation in 1981, Bradley offers tremendous insight into the intricacies and hardships involving the 50-year War on Poverty. This workshop is a must-see for Community Action veterans and those new to the network alike!
A block of rooms at the state rate has been reserved under the name “Community Action” – participants are responsible for reserving their own rooms and agencies are responsible for all travel costs.
