Emergency Assistance
Energy Share: Energy Share is a cooperative effort of Energy Share of North Dakota, statewide Community Action Agencies, utility companies, private donors, and the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program to help eligible households prevent electrical shutoffs. Assistance is provided when the situation has been deemed an emergency, and all other resources have been exhausted.
In House Emergency Food Pantry: Community Action provides donated foods, paper products, and cleaning supplies to individuals and families on an emergency basis. Non-federal funds are utilized to purchase food items. No income guidelines.
Senior Commodity Supplemental Food Program: Community Action provides additional food to individuals age sixty and above to free up grocery dollars so that the seniors can put the money towards their prescription needs.Food Pantries: Community Action supports thirteen community food pantries throughout Bottineau, Burke, McHenry, Mountrail, Pierce, Renville, and Ward Counties. Government Surplus commodities, funding, and administrative support are provided to the food pantries. Eligibility for the food pantries must follow federal poverty income guidelines as determined by the Temporary Emergency Food Assistance Program.
Emergency Prescription Assistance Program: The Emergency Prescription Assistance Program assists uninsured low-income individuals with the purchase of prescription medications.

Energy Conservation
Weatherization: Weatherization provides energy conservation services to low-income homeowners and renters to make their homes more energy efficient. The program helps to increase energy efficiency and reduce heating bills by concentrating on the problems of heat loss and air infiltration. Energy Conservation services, such as insulation, caulking, and weather-stripping, are provided by our trained construction crews to income-eligible households in Burke, Bottineau, McHenry, Mountrail, Pierce, Renville, and Ward counties as well as the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation.
Emergency Furnace & Water Heater Repair or Replacement: The Emergency Furnace & Water Heater Repair or Replacement program assists homeowners with the repair or replacement of unsafe heating systems or water heaters. Eligible clients must be homeowners approved for LIHEAP fuel assistance through Social Services.
Infrared Camera: The infrared camera is used to diagnose weaknesses in the insulating and energy-saving properties of a home. Areas of heat loss that would otherwise be undetected by the naked eye are made visible with the camera.

Housing
Housing Counseling: Community Action is a certified housing counseling agency. Our housing counseling program assists clients in solving their housing problems. Counseling is provided to homeowners, renters, and individuals that are homeless. Counseling activities include pre-purchase, post purchase, mortgage delinquency and default resolution, and renter counseling.
HOME Rehabilitation Program: Community Action rehabilitates income-eligible homes through the HOME Rehabilitation Program. Applicants must be homeowners. Rehabilitation may include electrical, plumbing, roofing, and repairs needed to bring the home up to Housing Quality Standards and North Dakota HOME Standards.
Rent and Mortgage Assistance: Community Action provides assistance for first month’s rent, past-due rent, and past due mortgage to low-income individuals experiencing a housing crisis. The applicants must be income-eligible and must have ongoing income that will enable them to keep their rent current.
Security Deposit Assistance: Community Action provides assistance to pay a security deposit on a house, mobile home, or apartment for income-eligible individuals. The unit must pass a Housing Quality Standard inspection and the lease must be reviewed for prohibited lease terms. The applicants must be income-eligible and must have ongoing income that is sufficient to keep their rent current in the future. The maximum security deposit allowed is the fair market rent for the particular housing unit.
Affordable Housing Developers, Inc.(AHDI): AHDI is a private, non-profit corporation dedicated to the creation and preservation of decent, safe, affordable homes for all who live in western North Dakota. AHDI plays a variety of roles in the development of affordable housing to include planning, development, financing, management, partnerships, and technical assistance.

Self Sufficiency
Self-Reliance: The goal of the Self-Reliance program is to assist individuals in taking the necessary steps to become self-sufficient through planning, action steps, and goal setting.
Representative Payee Case Management: Representative Payee services are available to individuals receiving Social Security Disability and/or Supplemental Security Income who are having difficulty handling their finances.
Four Cornerstones of Financial Literacy: Four Cornerstones is designed to help individuals budget to create savings, reduce debt and build assets, build a good credit rating, and learn about consumer protection and financial institution.
Tri-State Help: This program assists clients living with HIV or AIDS in accessing and obtaining affordable housing. Applicants must meet income, residency, and diagnosis requirements to be eligible. Assistance can be long- or short-term.
Shelter Plus Care: The Shelter Plus Care Program provides rental assistance and case management services to disabled individuals that are homeless. The program enables income-eligible families to obtain decent, safe and sanitary housing by subsidizing a portion of the monthly rent.
ND Cares: This program is offered to assist clients living with HIV or AIDS obtain health and supportive services. This service focuses on improving the client's quality of life, addressing issues with housing, transportation, and other needs.

Youth
Holiday Activities: Each year, many area individuals and businesses sponsor children or families during the holiday season by providing gifts and/or food. Some individuals and businesses donate toys and/or funds to Community Action's Toy Store and/or holiday food baskets to clients.
