Community Action Partnership - Grand Forks Region serves the following counties: Grand Forks, Nelson, Pembina, and Walsh.

In the wake of Red River Valley Community Action’s closure, Community Action Partnership of North Dakota is committed to ensuring that essential supports continue for households in need. Limited services remain available to residents of Region IV (Grand Forks, Nelson, Pembina, and Walsh Counties) through Community Action Program Region V (Fargo) and Community Action Program Region VI (Jamestown)

Community Action is able to offer LiHEAP Emergency Furnace, Supportive Services for Veteran Families, and Homeless Supportive Services; scroll down for additional information.

  1. LIHEAP Emergency Furnace ProgramProvides assistance for furnace repairs or replacement when a home’s heating system is not working and/or poses an immediate threat. This program is for low-income homeowner-occupied households and requires an energy/heating assistance (LIHEAP) approval or referral letter through North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services to be eligible.

  2. Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) Program: Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) Program is a VA initiative designed to help low-income Veteran families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. It provides supportive services like case management, healthcare navigation, legal services, financial assistance, employment assistance, and more. The goal is to help Veterans achieve and maintain stable housing. Must be a Veteran who was discharged from the Armed Forces with a discharge other than Dishonorable, have a household income at or below 80% Area Median Income (AMI), and either be homeless or at imminent risk of homelessness.

  3. Homeless Supportive Services: The Homeless Supportive Services focuses on delivering vital assistance to individuals and families    experiencing homelessness, those at risk of homelessness, and other priority populations (i.e., Household's fleeing Domestic   Violence). This program provides supportive services like case management, financial assistance, rental assistance, and more. The goal   is to significantly reduce homelessness and enhance housing stability across North Dakota. The Homeless Supportive Services program is committed to providing comprehensive support to eligible individuals and families, empowering them to achieve and maintain safe, secure housing. Eligibility criteria is dependent upon the client's current housing situation. Homeless Supportive Services are available for civilians (non-Veterans) who are experiencing homelessness or is at-risk of homelessness.
